Hale County 72-Hour Release Status
The Hale County Sheriff and Jail page does not provide a verified rolling 72-hour release URL. It also does not document a public update cadence, web retention span, or released-person filter. Those absences should not be filled with a commercial “recent bookings” page. Arrest intake, current custody, and release are separate events.
A useful three-day list must come from existing Hale County Jail records. The jail-management system may hold a release log, an export, or individual booking-and-release sheets. Call the jail at (806) 293-5377 to orient the search, then use a written Public Information Act request when documentary confirmation or every release in an interval is needed. Sheriff administration at (806) 296-2724 can identify the current public-information officer and approved delivery method.
Define Hale County's Three-Day Range
State both endpoints and the time zone. A rolling span ending Monday afternoon differs from the three calendar days of Friday through Sunday. If Hale County stores daily reports by calendar date, ask for all reports that overlap the span instead of requiring staff to recalculate a rolling window. The Public Information Act provides access to existing records; it does not require an agency to create information or answer analytical questions.
The wider interval is most useful when a family member knows that a person left “over the weekend” but not which day. It also catches administrative updates that appear on a later workday. Still, a delayed entry does not change the actual release time. Ask for the release-event timestamp and the report's creation or export date when those are separate fields.
- Choose either one exact rolling 72-hour interval or three named calendar dates in Central Time.
- Check the official county website for current sheriff and jail contacts.
- Ask whether an existing release log or jail-management export covers the period.
- Request its existing electronic format and list each needed field.
- Match each event to a booking number and, when needed, the related Hale court case.
Use the 24-Hour Release List process when the event should fall within one day. Use the named-person release path when identity, rather than a period-wide list, is the main concern.
Hale County 72-Hour Release Fields
No public feed columns can be claimed. Instead, request the fields that establish the local event and show where the person went. A destination marked as another county, TDCJ, federal custody, or another agency is a custodial transfer, even if the Hale County entry uses a release code.
| Field | Three-day use |
|---|---|
| Name and booking number | Separates people with similar names and ties the row to one admission. |
| Booking date/time | Prevents a recent arrest from being mislabeled as a release. |
| Release date/time | Places the departure inside or outside the exact interval. |
| Release reason and authority | Identifies the recorded basis, such as bond, time served, or court order. |
| Destination or receiving agency | Shows community departure versus continued custody after transfer. |
| Arresting agency and cause number | Connects sheriff data with police and court records. |
| Booking image indicator | Shows whether an intake photo is linked to the underlying booking. |
A charge field describes an allegation associated with the booking. It is not a conviction. Read the final court disposition separately.
Hale County Weekend Release Checks
A three-day request is especially practical after weekends and holidays because public offices may not answer record questions every day, while jail events continue. Do not assume that Hale County applies a special weekend-release schedule. No local cadence was verified. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 43.13 does provide a state rule for ordinary misdemeanor-sentence discharge between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m., with specified options for prior-day credit, a consensual or requested after-hours discharge, and transfers under other authority. It does not prove Hale uses one daily shift.
When a court order was signed Friday and the person cannot be located Monday, seek both documents. The court order may explain authority for bond, dismissal, sentence completion, or commitment. The jail record supplies the physical departure time and destination. A court event without a jail timestamp is incomplete evidence of when custody changed.
Holiday processing can also affect when a request response or online case entry appears. Preserve the “as of” time from every source. Do not rewrite an actual Sunday release as a Monday event merely because the office confirmed it Monday.
Request Hale County Three-Day Records
Suggested wording is: “Please provide all existing jail-management release-event rows from {start timestamp} through {end timestamp}, Central Time, including full name, booking number, booking date/time, release date/time, release code or reason, release authority, releasing facility, destination or receiving agency, arresting agency, cause number, charges, and whether a booking image is linked. Please provide the report in its existing electronic format. If no period report exists, please identify the existing release log or releasable booking/release sheets that contain these fields.”
Send the request in writing by a method Hale County designates under Government Code Section 552.234. Keep proof of delivery. Include a cost ceiling and ask for an itemized estimate before charges exceed it. Under Section 552.2615, an estimate is required if anticipated charges exceed $40. The Attorney General's public request guide explains how to make and narrow a request.
Ten business days is not a guaranteed delivery deadline. It relates to agency duties when an Attorney General ruling is sought. The agency may release records, give a production date, state that no responsive record exists, apply a prior determination, or request a ruling under the applicable process.
The official request instructions illustrate the written route.

This process preserves the exact three-day scope and gives the county a clear field inventory.
Hale County Release Data Retention
The Texas State Library Local Schedule PS separates an online view from the retained government record. PS4200-06a makes the county jail register permanent and includes the release-or-transfer date. PS4200-10 keeps booking, release, and transfer records for at least two years after the event. The schedule supplies retention floors. It does not decide whether every field is public.
That distinction matters after three days pass. A vanished or never-published web item can still have an underlying record. Confidential identifiers, medical material, active investigative facts, juvenile matters, and sealed or expunged records may be withheld or treated under other law. Ask for releasable fields rather than assuming the entire packet must be disclosed.
Note: A record can be retained without appearing in an online 72-hour view.
Verify Hale County Release Destinations
Start with the local record. If it says community release on bond, time served, dismissal, or another court order, compare the event with the relevant county or district court case. The county-linked public access portal is an online starting point, though coverage and access can vary. The 64th and 242nd district sources address felony cases, while the county clerk handles county-level matters.
If the record says TDCJ transfer, use the TDCJ offender search. Formby Unit and J.B. Wheeler Unit are TDCJ prisons in Hale County, but departure from either can be an inter-unit transfer rather than freedom. TDCJ data does not replace the sheriff's local release record.
Texas IVSS-Counties supports current custody or supervision alerts for a specific person. It is not a 72-hour archive and warns that people no longer in custody may disappear. An empty result therefore cannot close the search. The receiving agency, court docket, and written release event complete the chain.
